As part of a continuing feature on this blog, we'll meet each of the firm Principals and get their take on LPA, current projects and of course, sustainable design.

Q. How long have you worked at LPA?

A. Last March marked 25 great years at LPA --it certainly doesn't seem that long.

Q. What do you love most about your job?

A. The challenges and collaboration.

Q. What does a day in the life of Steve Kendrick look like?

A. Rarely are two days ever the same. The day could entail meetings with clients and/or co-workers, quality assurance issues, project specific tasks, or office management. All of this is usually boxed in by a run or bike ride.

Q. What project are you working on this minute? What does it entail?

A. Two projects which currently take the majority of my time - LPA's quality assurance program and the Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency Tenant Improvement. The QA program touches practically everything we do at LPA, but I'm currently focusing on project delivery - more to come at the October office meeting. SHRA is a 55,000-square-foot TI that's under construction and is targeted for a LEED CI Silver certification. When completed in November, it will serve as the main office for the agency.

Zen Garden at Toyota South CampusQ. What do you love most about sustainable design?

A. The collaboration that takes place throughout the life of a project as we weave sustainable design into every project, regardless of the project type, budget, or size.

Steven Kendrick, AIA, LEED AP, is a Principal at LPA with experience in recreation and corporate projects. An advocate for green building, he's presented for the U.S. Green Building Council, Urban Land Institute, American Institute of Architects, and CoreNet, to name a few.
