The Orange County Register ran an article recently about ExplorOcean and the progress of the exhibit in Newport Beach, Calif. What you may not know is that the design of this facility was put together by a team from LPA, led by Senior Designer Rick D’Amato—also featured in our last post about commercial interior design. Commissioned by the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum, in the historic Balboa Fun Zone, ExplorOcean is a one-of-a-kind educational experience slated for completion in 2018.

Office and Home become synonomous

The Orange County Business Journal came out with an article this week about office design trends in interior, commercial spaces. Our very own Rick D’Amato was tapped for the piece, fitting as he’s designed spaces for some of the most prestigious companies in the country— Ford Motor Company, Toyota, The Yard House Restaurants, Urban Decay Cosmetics, ASICS America, Blizzard Entertainment, Pacific Dental Services, Mossimo, The La Jolla Group and Volcom, to name a few. He made some interesting points in the article and we thought it’d be fun to revisit three of them, and give ideas you can implement in your own office workspace.

It’s not every day A-list celebs attend the grand openings of our libraries. Recently, in Malibu, hundreds came out—including Mayor Laura Zahn Rosenthal, Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely, and Dick Van Dyke—to celebrate the opening of a very special library remodel. A dynamic metamorphosis of what was once a dark, dated, and inefficient space into what is now a light, bright, and sustainable environment that reflects the history and unique nature of this beachfront community.

In 1961, Santa Fe Springs was on the rural outskirts of Los Angeles. It was a land of oil wells, citrus groves, and dreams. In a stroke of wonder, the City was able to attract a Los Angeles architect to the town to design a civic center that would stand the test of time.
